Who We Are

MeOnPic is a photography service. We photograph events and public locations, and use face recognition technology to help people find and purchase photos of themselves.

What Data We Collect

• Photos — We take photographs at events and public locations. These photos may contain your likeness.
• Face embeddings — We process our photos using face detection software to create mathematical representations (vectors) of faces. These are used solely to match faces across photos and enable the search feature. Embeddings cannot be used to reconstruct your face.
• Ratings and comments — If you rate or comment on photos, we store an anonymized identifier (hash of your IP and browser) to prevent duplicate votes. We do not collect your name or email for this.

How Face Search Works

When you use the face search feature, you upload a photo or use your webcam to take a selfie. Your image is processed in memory only to generate a face embedding, which is compared against our database of indexed photos.

Your uploaded image and face embedding are never stored. They are deleted from server memory immediately after the search results are returned.

Legal Basis for Processing

• Photography and face indexing: Legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — we index faces in our own photos to enable people to find and purchase photos of themselves. We have conducted a Legitimate Interest Assessment to balance our interests against your privacy rights.
• Face search: Explicit consent (GDPR Article 9(2)(a)) — before your face is processed for search, you must provide explicit consent via our consent dialog.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data or biometric data to any third party. Your data is processed solely on our own servers.

Data Retention

Photos and face embeddings from our photography are retained as long as the photos are published on our site. You may request deletion at any time (see below).

Search uploads and temporary face data are deleted immediately after processing and are never stored.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request what data we hold about you
• Erasure — request deletion of your photos, face data, and embeddings from our database
• Object — object to the processing of your biometric data
• Withdraw consent — if you consented to face search, you may withdraw at any time

We use only essential cookies for authentication sessions. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics, or advertising cookies.
